Detecht on CarPlay now works without your phone
2 min read
Connect your phone to your bike, leave it in your pocket and ride. Detecht on CarPlay now runs on its own: you can start, navigate, pause, end and save a ride from the bike's screen without opening the app on your phone first. Until now, CarPlay only worked once the app was open on the phone.
CarPlay is free for every Detecht rider. Some motorcycle apps only offer it with a paid subscription, but in Detecht you don't need Detecht Premium to use it. Road types that need Premium, such as Curvy, need it on CarPlay too. To get everything in this post, update Detecht to version 3.31.1 or later from the App Store. On Android, Detecht works with Android Auto, and we'll cover that in its own post.
Your whole ride from the bike's screen
Start a ride, follow the route with voice prompts and hazard warnings, and save it when you're done, all from CarPlay. You don't need to touch your phone at any point. When you get home, the ride is on your phone like any other, with the whole line on the map.
Easier to read at a glance
On iOS 26.4 the card with your next turn turned bright red and was hard to read. That's fixed. Thanks to everyone who reported it.

The map on CarPlay is also zoomed to suit the smaller screen, so you see more of the road ahead.
Steadier from start to finish
We've fixed a long list of smaller problems that could get in the way on a ride. CarPlay is more stable from the moment you connect until the ride is saved, and it carries on where it was if you unplug and reconnect. Search now finds places near you and your bookmarks, the same way it does on your phone.
Ride with CarPlay and something doesn't look right? Tell us at support@detecht.se, with your bike or CarPlay display model and a photo of the screen if you can.
