Big day for The Pipers — we officially welcomed our newest member and sealed his nickname for good: Hook. Noah earned it right there on the map, and it’s official now. The route took us up through NH on 93, over to Bretton Woods (2,857 ft, highest point of the day) with a stop at the Mount Washington Resort to take in the view — that’s where Hook’s tush officially tapped out. Smart move turning back rather than toughing out the rest, because from there it was a long haul back down through Ossipee, Dover, and eventually all the way to Methuen before we could even think about calling it a day. Along the way we hit the Kanga Manga Highway, ran Franconia Notch not once but twice (once clearly wasn’t enough), and rolled 355 miles total, 7 hours 16 minutes in the saddle, averaging 48 mph with someone hitting 99 mph at some point near Laconia. Capped the day off right with a stop at Brown’s in Salisbury for fried lobster tails and fried clams before peeling off solo for the ride home to York, Maine. Welcome to club, Hook. Get some padding for next time.
