Which roads do Swedish motorcyclists ride the most, and where do they stop? We went through tens of thousands of rides logged in Detecht in 2025. Here are the five most-ridden motorcycle roads and the five most-visited stops.

The five most-ridden roads

1. Brudfjällsvägen, Dalsland: about 23 km (14 mi)

Map of Brudfjällsvägen through Dalsland's lakes and forests, from Dals Långed south toward the E45.

The road many riders call Sweden's best motorcycle road runs between the Åmål area and Bengtsfors. It's bend after bend through the forest, up and down, with a flow you can still feel the next day. It's short, and Håverud Slusstation is only a few minutes away, a natural place to stop.

2. The Ingsjön loop, outside Gothenburg: about 27 km (17 mi)

Map of the Ingsjön loop from Lindome east past Hällesåker and along the lake Ingsjön toward Road 156.

This is the local loop ridden most often in all of Sweden. It runs along Norra Hällesåkervägen and then follows the lake Ingsjön, close to several other favorite stretches around Gothenburg, such as the roads at Ubbhult and Eskilsbyvägen. If you're coming from Gothenburg, Nersgårdens Bageri, a third of the way along, is a good stop. Ride it early on a Sunday: you're not the only one who's found it.

3. Road 225, Stockholm: about 40 km (25 mi)

Road 225 (länsväg 225) is the classic loop on Södertörn and the quickest way out of Stockholm to some real motorcycle riding. It crosses Slingerbulten, one of Sweden's most popular motorcycle stretches, and passes stops like Café Rosenhill. If you're in the Stockholm area, this is the closest road to bends and flow.

4. Road 104, Skåne: about 50 km (31 mi)

Map of a route in Skåne from the coast at Saxtorpsskogen east via Kävlinge, north of Lund.

Road 104 (länsväg 104) is Skåne's Sunday classic, between flat farmland and rolling hills. On the way is BP Nostalgimack, an old gas station that has become a stop in its own right. The road ends in Sjöbo, close to several other popular motorcycle roads: Gamla Lundavägen, Häckebergavägen and Hyrby kyrkoväg.

5. The Roxen loop, Östergötland: about 40 km (25 mi)

Map of the Roxen loop around the lake Roxen north of Linköping, via Södra Roxen, Norra Roxen and Norsholm.

The loop around the lake Roxen is Östergötland's signature ride. In one go you ride both Södra and Norra Roxen, and Norsholms Slusscafé and the Berg locks (Bergs slussar) on the Göta Canal are the obvious stops, one on each side of the lake. Forest, open farmland and lake views take turns the whole way.

The five most-visited stops

1. Håverud Slusstation, Dalsland

The Dalsland Canal's well-known aqueduct, with four locks, and a popular photo stop with your bike parked in front. It makes a good extension of Brudfjällsvägen: stop for fika, Sweden's coffee-and-cake break, at Café Håverud, get an ice cream from Lejonet och Björnens glasskiosk or have a longer lunch at Håfveruds Rökeri & Brasseri. There are public toilets here too, which is never a bad thing after a few hours in the saddle. More about Håverud Slusstation on Västsverige.com (in Swedish).

2. BP Nostalgimack, Skåne (Harlösa)

Old green and yellow BP pumps under a canopy at a nostalgic gas station, with vintage cars next to it.

A small gas station from the old days, preserved as a museum and open to motorcyclists passing by. The pumps don't work, but there are several old cars here and the owner is happy to show you the collection. Don't miss the overgrown police car.

3. Norsholms Slusscafé, Östergötland

Norsholms Slusscafé on the Göta Canal was one of the most-visited stops among Detecht users in 2025. Sit in the sun with a coffee or lunch while the boats slowly work their way through the lock. The roads around Norsholm have gentle bends through pretty countryside, so the café works well as a stop in the middle of a longer ride.

4. Källarbacken, outside Gothenburg

Motorcycles parked on the gravel lot outside the white café building at Källarbacken, with people on the terrace.

In Hällingsjö, among the short hidden-gem roads southeast of Gothenburg, is Källarbacken, one of western Sweden's most talked-about Sunday cafés among motorcyclists. There's motorcycle parking, pastries and fika, and proper food if you're out on a half-day ride. Eskilsbyvägen, Ingsjön, Ubbhult and Lygnern, all local favorites, are close by.

5. Café Rosenhill, Stockholm

Café Rosenhill in Grödinge, in Botkyrka municipality, has long been one of the classic meeting places for motorcyclists around Stockholm, and in 2025 it was one of the most-visited stops among Detecht users.

The roads there run between open fields, with good bends and light traffic, so it suits a spur-of-the-moment ride as well as a planned day trip from Stockholm. When you arrive, you'll find everything from sport bikes to tourers lined up next to the big outdoor seating area, and the café is known for its generous pastries and its lunch.

What the data says

  • Short rides close to the big cities are ridden the most.
  • Curvy roads beat everything else.
  • Social stops matter: cafés and viewpoints top the list.
  • Summer and the coast see the most riding.

How we made the list
