Plan a route on the web

Routes you plan in the Trip Planner on the web are in the app straight away, to navigate, share or change.

Move around the map

• Move the map: click and drag it.
• Zoom: scroll with your mouse or trackpad, or click the zoom buttons in the lower right corner.
• Change the map style: click the layer icon in the lower right corner.

Plan a route

1. Add a start: click the map, or click the start field in the waypoint list and search for a place or address.
2. Add an end the same way. The Trip Planner draws the route.
3. Choose a road type above the waypoint list:
   • Highway: the fastest route to your destination.
   • Avoid Highway: keeps off highways.
   • Curvy: the curviest roads.

Build the route as you go

Each click on the map, when no waypoint is selected, sets a new end. The previous end becomes a waypoint on the route. So you can build a route one stretch at a time:

1. Add your start.
2. Click a road you want to ride. It becomes the end.
3. Click the next stretch of road. That becomes the end, and the previous one a waypoint.
4. Repeat until the route is done.

Add, move and reorder waypoints

To add a waypoint:

1. In the waypoint list, click add waypoint between the two places where you want it.
2. With the new waypoint selected, search for a place or address, or click the map where you want it.

To move a waypoint, drag it on the map. Or click it in the waypoint list, then search for the new place or click it on the map.

To reorder waypoints, drag a waypoint's handle to its new place in the waypoint list.

Save the route

You need a Detecht account, and to be logged in, to save a route.

1. Click Save Route.
2. Give the route a name, and a description if you want.
3. Click Save Route.

The route is saved to your profile, on the web and in the app.

Edit a saved route

You can edit routes you planned on the web and in the app. Log in first.

1. In the Trip Planner, click the book icon in the top right corner. Your route library opens, with your tracked and planned routes.
2. Click the route you want to edit.
3. Make your changes, then click Save Changes.
4. Choose how to save:
   • Save Route replaces the old version.
   • Save as New saves a new route and keeps the original.
