Report hazards and get hazard warnings

Turn on hazard warnings in the map settings. While you ride, tap the Report Hazard button to warn other riders of a hazard.

With hazard warnings on, Detecht warns you of road hazards other riders have reported near you, and you can report the hazards you see.

Turn on hazard warnings

  1. On the map, tap the settings icon.
  2. Under Hazard warnings, turn on Enable hazards.

You can now see, get warned of and report hazards. Under Hazard types, choose which kinds of hazard you want warnings for.

Report a hazard

While you track a ride or navigate, the Report Hazard button shows in the lower right corner of the map. What it does depends on whether you're moving.

  • While moving: tap it to report a hazard at your current location right away. When you've stopped, you can say what kind of hazard it was, so other riders know what to expect.
  • When standing still: tap it, choose the kind of hazard and place it on the map where you saw it. Add a description if it helps others know what to watch out for.

Other riders can now see the hazard and get warned of it.

Get warned of a hazard

When you get close to a hazard, Detecht shows what kind of hazard it is and how far away, and a voice tells you about it.

Confirm or clear a hazard

Once you've passed a hazard, help keep the map up to date. A hazard you've passed shows a question mark.

  1. Tap the hazard.
  2. Choose:
    • Still there keeps it on the map for other riders. Hazards you've confirmed show a checkmark.
    • Not there removes it from the map.

You can only confirm or clear a hazard you've been close to.
