Keep your rides and location private
You decide who sees your rides, your profile and where you are. This page goes through each privacy setting and what others see.
Who can see your rides
A new ride is public until you choose otherwise.
- Public: anyone can see it, every Detecht rider and anyone on the web, without an account. It shows in Discover in the app and on Roadbook on the web. Others see everything you see: the exact route, including where it starts and ends, your speed, your photos and the ride's name.
- Private: only you can see it.
Save a ride as private
- When you've finished, tap End. The screen for saving your ride opens.
- Switch the ride to private.
- Tap Save.
Detecht remembers your choice: your next rides are saved as private too, until you switch back to public.
Make a saved ride private or public
- Open the ride.
- Tap the edit icon in the top right corner.
- Switch the ride to private or public.
- Tap Save.
Hide where you live on public rides
A public ride shows where it starts and ends, which is often your home or work. Trim the start and end before you save it: see Hide where your rides start and end.
The ride's name shows too, so choose one that doesn't point to your home: "Sunday loop" says less than "Home to the coast".
Routes you plan
Routes you plan are private by default. To let other riders find one, turn on Public Route when you save it. See Plan a route in the app.
What your profile shows
Your profile shows your name, where you live, your bikes, rides, posts and statistics. To show less:
- Name: use a nickname if you'd rather not show your real name.
- Where you live: you don't have to add it.
- Bikes: your garage shows them to everyone who can see your profile. To hide them, make your profile private.
To make your profile private, turn on Private profile in your profile settings. Then only your friends can see what's on it. To change your name, where you live or your privacy, see Edit your profile.
Who can see where you are
- Safety Tracking: anyone with your link, and the Detecht friends you chose, can see where you are while Safety Tracking is on. To stop everyone who has your link, generate a new one. See Share your live location with Safety Tracking.
- Ride Session: the riders in a session see where you are and whether you're moving, only while they're in the session with you. To stop, leave the session. See Ride together in a Ride Session.
- Crash detection: when it detects a crash, it sends your exact position to your emergency contacts, and in Sweden to SOS Alarm if you've connected it.
